Crown Competes in Track & Field at UW-River Falls
River Falls, WI - Six members of the Storm Track & Field team competed at an outdoor track meet held on the campus of UW-River Falls on Saturday, April 4th, 2009. Running in 40 degree temperature under cloudy skies senior Seth Brickey scored an impressive 4th place in the 800 meters in 1:58. Also competing for the Storm was sophomore Shauna Palmer who ran excellent races in both the 3000 meters (12:57) and 1500 meters (6:09). Freshman Erika Stampfl scored a personal best in the 1500 meters in 5:37 and later returned to run a strong 2:42 in the 800 meters. Junior Marquise Dixon narrowly missed qualifying for the finals in the 100 meters (11.69) and came back with a solid 55 second 400 meter dash. Sophomore Eric Chavoustie also competed in the 400 meters before returning with a 24.2 in the 200 meters. Freshman Steven Holladay narrowly missed qualifying for the finals of the 100 meter dash before he equalede Dixon's time of 23.41 in teh 200 meters. "Each of the Crown particpants set season best marks," said coach Rick Peterson. "Our men were strong enough that we will combine their times for the sprint medley relay (200-200-400-800) to see if we can qualify for the Drake Relays in Des Moines later this month. Both Shauna Palmer and Erika Stampfl ran with great confidence and got stronger toward the end of their races." The team now turns it's attention to the UMAC Conference meet on May 2 on the campus of The University of Minnesota, Morris and the Carleton Invitational on May 18th.
