Crown Men's Soccer Has Three All-Conference Selections
St. Paul, Minn - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference announced today the all-conference selection for men's soccer and Crown College has three members of the 2009 soccer team make the list. Two players earned all-conference first team while one member earned an honorable mention selection.
Sophomore Jon Schultz (Champlin, Minn) earned his second straight first team all-conference selection as he was second on the team in goals (11), total points (24), and third in assists (2). A dynamic play-maker you always had to be aware of him on the field for fear he would strike at anytime. Joining him on the first team is junior midfielder Mark Matson (St. Croix Falls, Wis.) who led the team in goals (12) and total points (25).
Defender Brady Griffith a sophomore from Victoria, Minn. was named all-conference honorable mention for his contributions to the Storm defense. Griffith is an anchor on the back line and also contributed offensively scoring 2 goals and assisting on another throughout the season.
Crown finished the season with a best ever finish tied for third place in the conference with Northwestern College and earning the programs first ever UMAC post-season tournament birth. The Storm finished with a 8-11-1 overall record and were 7-6-1 in conference play.
