01/18 Womens Basketball

Saint Bonifacius, Minn - The Crown College Storm women’s basketball team played at home for the first time since December 19th in a conference game against the Eagles from Northwestern College on Saturday afternoon.

Looking for their first victory of the season, the Storm took an early 3-0 lead on the Eagles on a three-point basket from freshman Judy Mundt.  They held a 1- point advantage through the fourth minute into the game before the Eagles would go on a 7-0 run to take the lead for good.  The Storm battled and went on to trail by 2, 14-16 with eleven and half minutes to go in the first half. However the Eagles used a 22-3 run to close the half leading 38-17 over the Storm.

The Storm did not get any closer than the half time score as the Eagles dominated the remaining twenty minutes of action forcing turnovers and poor shooting by the Storm. The Eagles combined this defensive pressure with a blistering 66% shooting percentage from beyond the arc in the second half to win easily 81-38.

The Storm were led by freshman point guard Judy Mundt and her 15 points on 6 of 14 shooting.  The loss drop the Storm to 0-5 in conference play and 0-10 overall.  Crown takes to the hardwood again Friday January 22nd, when they play host to The University of Minnesota – Morris.  Tip off is scheduled for  5:30p.m.
