St. Bonifacius, Minn  - Crown College men’s basketball player Daniel Pust (Somers, MT) was recently named to the National Association of Basketball (NABC) Honor Court.  The NABC recognizes those collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics.  The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess on the court, and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.  The NABC Honor Court nominees must be a junior or senior academically who has maintained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2008-09 academic year.  Pust, who is double majoring in sports management and business management at Crown, posted 8.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in 24 contests in his junior year of 2008-09 after missing the entire 2007-08 season while rehabbing from a major knee injury.  He led the team in blocked shots (14) and field goal percentage (.528) as an undersized post player (6’3”).  Pust was also named to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Academic All-Conference team, which requires a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better for the two semesters in the 2008-09 academic year.  “I am so proud of the many talents that Dan brings to our basketball team but I am most proud of his example to our younger student-athletes to be the best on and off the basketball court.  This award is what college athletics can be proud of and what NCAA Division III basketball is all about, the excellence of our STUDENT-athletes”, says head coach Jon Barsness.
