Easy Win Nets Eagles Season Sweep over Storm
Saint Paul, Minn – The Eagles from Northwestern continued their dominance against the Storm when they jumped to an early 9-2 advantage. The Storm trailed 18-14 when the Eagles went on a 20-6 run to close the half leading by 18 points, 38-20. The Storm went scoreless for more than three and half minutes in the first half and shot 25% from the field.
The Storm scored the first two points of the second half to cut the lead to 16 but would get no closer as the Eagles would punish the Storm scoring at will inside the paint en route to an 85-63 victory. The Eagles continued to fluster the Storm into tough shots and held the Storm to 29% shooting on the game. The Storm did attack the offensive glass and collected 19 offensive rebounds and outscored the Eagles on second chance points 20-10.
In the loss, the Storm was led by senior guard Michael Landers (Milwaukee, Wis.) scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Fellow senior Jake Jarvis poured in 18 points. With the loss, the Storm drop to 3-5 (3-15 overall) in conference play and are in sixth place in the conference heading into the final home stand of the season. They will take on Martin Luther College, who visit the Wilds Athletic Center on Friday, February 5th, at 7:30p.m.
