Lady Storm Drop Non-Conference Road Contest
Playing their 4th game in 7 days the Lady Storm traveled to Superior, WI on Monday evening to take on non-conference opponent UW-Superior in women's basketball action. With limited numbers, illness and fatigue playing a major factor the UW-Superior YellowJackets took it to the Lady Storm early and often jumping out to a 25-5 lead 8 minutes into the game and never looking back in a 102-37 route of the Lady Storm. With a deep bench, 15 players played and all but one player played at least 13 minutes, the YellowJackets used their depth to wear down the Crown College women to take a 50-17 lead into halftime. The YellowJackets went on a 14-2 run to begin the second half and put any hope of a comeback to rest for the evening. Every member of the UW-Superior team scored at least one point and four starters tallied 11 points each to lead a balanced attack. The YellowJackets shot 51% for the game and out rebounded the Lady Storm 51-23 while forcing 20 turnovers. For the Lady Storm junior forward Stephanie Zroka (Elk River, Minn/Rivers Christian) scored13 points on 6-10 shooting including 1-2 from three point range. Also scoring in double figures for Crown was sophomore forward Mary DeVries (Chester, MT/Chester) who notched 14 points and 7 rebounds in 22 minutes of action. The Storm look to finish up the season at home this weekend as they host two UMAC opponents in Presentation College and UM - Morris on Friday and Saturday looking for their first conference win of the season.
