McCoy Leads Storm; Captures Player of the Week Honors

10/16 Football

For the third week in a row the Storm football team has placed at least one of their players on the UMAC Player of the week list.  This week, senior linebacker, Jay McCoy was awarded Defensive Player of the Week honors for his contributions during the team’s win over visiting Minnesota-Morris on October 11, 2008. The Storm defeated the Cougars 28-21 largely due to the defensive play of McCoy. McCoy racked up 11 total tackles, nine of which were solo. He also had two tackles for a loss and recovered a fumble on Crown’s own two yard line to secure the win with 1:09 left on the clock. McCoy is currently second on the team with 40 total tackles. He also has 31 solo tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two recovered fumbles on the year.

Next up for McCoy and the Storm are the Knights of Martin Luther on Saturday, October 18.  The winner of this final conference matchup will earn a spot in the UMAC championship game against Northwestern College on October 31.
