Men's Soccer Returns to Win Column

10/18 Mens Soccer

The men's soccer team returned the win column Saturday afternoon as they shut out visiting Northland College 3-0.  The Storm outshot the Lumberjacks 28 to 12.  Freshman striker Jon Schultz found the net twice and junior backup goalkeeper, Jake Loeffler picked up his first goal of the season in his first game off the bench as a striker.

The Storm pelted the Northland goal with 13 shots in the first half but were unable to find the back of the net.  Then, in the 52nd minute, freshman Kyle Brubaker found Schultz with a cross field pass.  In the 72nd minute, senior Nathan Budish took a free kick that bounced off of Loeffler and found the foot of Schultz again for his second goal of the game and sixth on the season.  Shortly after, in the 75th minute Loeffler was able to capitalize off of a Mark Jensen pass into the box.  Junior goalkeeper Jay Clementson picked up his second shutout of the season and recorded five saves on the afternoon.

Next up for the Storm is a Friday-Saturday series against Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther.  Crown lost to both the Vikings and the Knights on their home field in September by two goals in each game.
