On My Spring Break...
Saint Bonifacius, Minn - During spring break 2009 the volleyball team traveled to the Dominican Republic on a missions trip coordinated by SCORE International. Head Coach Kimmie Moehring led the team on this trip and said, "we made it there and back safely without anyone getting sick, injured, or having any real issues traveling internationally it was an incredible trip for the team as a whole and for the girls individually." The team spent their time in orphanages and local villages singing songs, playing with children and playing volleyball on the sport court and in the sand. The players each shared their testimony with the children while the interpreter translated and gave the gospel message to the various people in the villages. "We were the hands and feet of Christ and showed His love through the way we interacted with the kids, said Coach Moehring, our prayer is that we planted seeds in some of the kid's hearts and that someone gave their life to Christ through one of our players." Some of the major lessons learned by the members of the volleyball team were to really trust in God, to be grateful for what they have and to be truly joyful in all circumstances. A trip like this is one of the reasons that the athletics programs at Crown College are unique and why our focus is not winning at all costs because our student-athletes learn through experiences like this missions trip that God has gifted us with the ability through sport to reach those that might not otherwise hear or see Christ in anything else in their lives. Through sports Crown student-athletes are continuing the mission of Crown College to provide Christian leadership to the world.
