11/21 Mens Basketball

Saint Bonifacius, Minn - Hosting the first ever Coaches vs. Cancer Tip Off Tournament the Crown College Storm took on The University of Wisconsin-River Falls in the second game of the double-header action in the Tip Off Tournament.

After winning the opening tip sophomore point guard Steve Boger (Cokato, Minn.) gave the Storm a quick 2-0 lead but the Falcons would answer back on their first offensive possession as Aaron Anderson hit a 3 giving the Falcons a 1 point lead.  The Storm would struggle to finish open shots in the games first 8 minutes as the Falcons would build a 19 point lead going up 27-8.  The Storm would find their shooting touch the rest of the first half but defensively struggled to keep the much bigger UW-River Falls team off the offensive glass allowing 12 second chance points in the paint in the first half which led to a 50-37 advantage for the Falcons.

The Storm would cut the lead to 11 in the second half but the stronger more physical Falcons team would continue to pound the ball inside on the Storm and cruise to a 92-70 victory.  Crown had three players finish in double figures with senior guard Mike Landers (Milwaukee, Wis.) leading the way with 18 followed by freshman guard Taylor Jones (Chisago Lakes, Minn.) who chipped in 13 points including 3-5 of beyond the arc.  Senior guard Jacob Jarvis added 12 for the Storm.

With the loss the Storm drop to 0-2 on the season and will next play in the consolation game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Tip Off Tournament as they take on Loras College which lost the first game of the tournament on Friday against Augsburg College.  Tip off will be at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Tournament Championship game between UW-River Falls and Augsburg College.
