Storm Women Drop Close Match With Eagles to Finish Season
Minnetonka, Minn - Due to poor field conditions the Storm women's soccer team was forced to play their final game of the 2009 season at Minnetonka High School on Saturday afternoon. With high winds and the realization that their season was coming to an end the Storm women fought hard in an attempt to split the season series between Northwestern College who beat the Storm 1-0 earlier in the week to end their play off hopes.
The first half was a battle at midfield as neither team had very many scoring opportunities. However the second half would prove to be too much for the Storm as the Eagles would batter the Storm goal for 13 shots scoring in the 56th minute to take the 1-0 lead off a goal by Kyrie Jorgenson and than putting the game away in the 87th minute as Anna Hilden would be in and near the ball as the Storm would score an own goal making it 2-0.
The Storm would finish the season 6-8 in conference play and 7-11 overall.
