Track and Field Competes in UMAC Conference Meet
Morris, Minn - Fourteen members of the Storm Track & Field team competed in the UMAC Conference Track & Field Meet held in Morris, MN on May 2, 2009. Topping all performances was senior Seth Brickley who was named "Athlete of the Meet" after scoring wins in the 1500 meters (metric mile) and 5000 meters; as well as a 5th place finish in the 800 meters and anchoring the 5th place Crown 4x400 meter relay. Brickley's time in the 1500 meter win (4:05) set an all-time UMAC Conference record. Other top places by Storm individuals included sophomore Bryce Koke with a 3rd in the shot put (43' 7"), freshman Steve Holladay was 4th in the high jump (5' 5"), freshman Shauna Palmer was 4th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, and the men's 4 x 100 meter team (Holladay, Ben Horne, Eric Chavoustie, and Marquise Dixon) was 4th, and freshman Brandon Green was 6th in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles. "Scoring well in the UMAC Conference Meet was another step forward for Track & Field at Crown," said coach Rick Peterson. "I'm proud of all of the participants this season. They showed strong commitment and represented Crown very well in a total of 3 indoor and 5 outdoor meets; including the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines. Seth (Brickley) has become one of the top college runners in the upper Midwest."
