Winter and Spring Academic All-Conference Awards Announced

St. Paul, Minn - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced the winter and spring academic all-conference winners for the 2008-09 academic school year on Tuesday afternoon.  A total of 11 Crown student-athletes were selected to their respective academic all-conference teams including two student-athletes who were selected for both a winter and spring sport.  The individual athletes must meet the following criteria in order to be selected:

  • Must post a 3.50 or better semester grade point average based on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must compete in the sport in which they are nominated in the season that corresponds with the selection.

Leading the charge for the Storm were men's basketball player and track and field competitor freshman Steven Holladay who earned academic all-conference in both sports.  Also earning academic all-conference in two sports was fellow freshman Chelsi Plate in women's basketball and softball.  Other men's basketball award winners were freshman Travis Bickmann and junior Daniel Pust.  In softball freshman Naomi Anderson joined Chelsi Plate as academic all-conference winners.  For baseball the winners were freshman Austin Petersen and senior John Patnode.  In men's and women's track and field Hannah Dean, Cherie Hecimovich, Megan Kunde, and Erika Stampfl earned academic all-conference.  Congratulations to all of our student-athletes for truly representing the mission of NCAA Division III athletics and the mission of Crown College in developing into strong Christian world leaders.
