Women's Basketball Drops Game Against Tough Opponent
Saint Bonifacius, Minn - The 2009-2010 season has been a series of challenges for the Crown College women's basketball games as they attempt to rebuild a program that has fallen on hard times in the last 5 years. Under the direction of veteran head coach Bill Adamson who has begun the rebuilding process this season the Storm tried to end a 6 game losing streak this season on Saturday afternoon against a very tough foe in Luther College out of Iowa.
The Storm got off to a great start hitting a quick three pointer by senior Brittany Alverson to take a quick 3-2 lead. Unfortunately that would be their only lead of the game as Luther would outscore the Storm 35-3 over the next 10 minutes to take a commanding lead and never looking back. A suffocating full court press from Luther forced 30 turnovers in the game for the Storm and a stiff defensive effort in the half court held the Storm to just 17% shooting for the game.
For the Storm freshman guard Judy Mundt was the only player to reach double figures as she scored 11 points. Senior post Stephanie Zroka was close behind with 7 points on the afternoon.
The Storm are off until the new year when they return to action with conference road games on January 8th in Mankato, Minn against Bethany Lutheran and on Saturday January 9th in New Ulm, Minn against Martin Luther College.
