Women's Basketball Loses Final Conference Road Contests

02/09 Womens Basketball

The Crown College Lady Storm traveled to New Ulm and Mankato, Minn this past weekend to finish up the road portion of their conference schedule and came up on the short end in both contests.  On Friday night the Lady Storm were hosted by the Knights from Martin Luther.  The game was a back and forth affair for the first 12 minutes of the half with the Knights leading by only 4 points before Martin Luther went on a 22-12 run to finish the half and extend their lead to 14 points leading 34-20 at halftime.  The second half started much the same way the first half ended for the Lady Storm as they would eventually go on to lose by 39 points 77-38.  The Lady Storm shot just 32% from the field in the game including 2-13 from beyond the arc and turned the ball over 43 times in the game as the pressure defense of Martin Luther gave them many easy scoring opportunities.  Crown had no scorer in double figures in the game.  On Saturday afternoon the Lady Storm traveled to Mankato, Minn to take on the Vikings from Bethany Lutheran.  Plagued by early foul trouble the Lady Storm hung around in the first half in large part due to the shooting of freshman guard Joy Murry (Kenyon-Wanamingo, Minn/Kenyon-Wanamingo) scoring 16 of her game high 20 points in the first half.  The Lady Storm shot 50% in the first half including 3-4 from three point land.  Trailing 48-31 at the half the Lady Storm struggled in the second half scoring the basketball shooting 26% and eventually losing 93-57 committing 37 turnovers in the game to drop to 1-15 overall and 0-10 in conference play.  The Lady Storm are back in action against non-conference opponent North Central University on Tuesday February 10th in Minneapolis.
