Women's Soccer Places Four on All-Conference Team in UMAC
St. Paul, Minn - Following a postseason tournament championship that resulted in a 1-0 win by NCAA tournament bound-St. Scholastica, the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its all-conference awards on Monday. The Storm had four representatives from the 2009 team make the all-conference list including two members that made 1st team all-conference.
Senior Missy Herrity (Wyoming, Minn.) led the way for the Storm with her first all-conference award as a senior after being named All-Region in 2007 with the NCCAA national championship team. Herrity led the team with 11 goals and points (50) as well as getting 2 game-winning goals on the season.
Also gaining all-conference first team for the Storm was junior Stephanie Lally (Princeton Junction, NJ) who returned this season after missing all of last year with an ACL injury. This is Lally's second all-conference first team award as she won the award back in 2007. Lally led the team with 4 assists on the season and was third on the team with 4 goals including one game winner.
Joining Herrity and Lally on the all-conference award list were two honorable mention winners. Senior Bethany Rossetti (Wausau, Wis.) garnered her third all-conference award of her career as she was named to the honorable mention team in 2007 and was an all-conference first team award winner in 2008. Rossetti was second on the team in goals with 5 and tied for second on the team with 3 assists. Rossetti also had 2 game winning goals.
Rounding out the conference award winners for the Storm is freshman Kelly Anderson (Lake Elmo, Minn.) who was a valuable member of the defensive unit of the Storm this past season. Particularly when top goal-keeper Carrie Meyer went down with a season ending injury and the Storm rotated through new goal keepers often early in the season.
The Storm finished in fifth place on the season in the UMAC just missing out on the playoffs with a 6-8 record in conference and a 7-11 overall record.
